PT BSI’s Fostered SMEs Open Souvenir Outlet at Kokoon Hotel Banyuwangi

For visitors who have stayed at Kokoon Hotel Banyuwangi, they must be familiar with the beautiful snacks served in woven bamboo containers. The snacks are the work of members of the UKM Center-Q, a small and medium enterprise (SME) group fostered by PT Bumi Suksesindo (BSI), a gold mining company based in Banyuwangi.

Since 2022, UKM Center-Q has collaborated with Kokoon Hotel as a snack provider for hotel guests. The snacks are part of the hotel service provided in each room.

However, the collaboration between UKM Center-Q and Kokoon Hotel did not stop there. On February 27, 2025, UKM Center-Q opened an outlet for Banyuwangi processed food souvenirs in the basement parking area of the Kokoon Hotel. The opening of this outlet is a new achievement for PT BSI’s fostered SMEs.

Bahtiar Majid, Community Empowerment and Program of PT BSI, who has been accompanying SME members, said that this collaboration is a strategic opportunity for UKM Center-Q to develop further. “Hopefully through this collaboration, MSMEs in Banyuwangi, especially SMEs fostered by PT BSI, can develop further,” said Majid at the opening ceremony of the outlet.

General Manager of Kokoon Hotel Banyuwangi, Weni Kristanti, also welcomed this collaboration. “With the UKM Center-Q outlet in our hotel, guests no longer need to be confused about looking for Banyuwangi souvenirs,” he said.

The opening ceremony of the outlet continued with a tumpeng cutting procession carried out by the Chairman of UKM Center-Q, Zaenab Alfiah, as a symbol of the official opening of the souvenir shop. The UKM members seemed excited and happy to see this step forward.

On this occasion, UKM Center-Q members also introduced their flagship products, such as processed dragon fruit, including dragon dodol and dragon chips, as well as other Banyuwangi processed foods, such as banana and bagiak sales. These products are neatly arranged on iron shelves and are ready to be sold to hotel guests.

Zaenab Alfiah expressed his gratitude to PT BSI and Kokoon Hotel for the support given to UKM Center-Q. “Hopefully with this outlet, our MSMEs can really upgrade,” he said.

For information, UKM Center-Q was formed thanks to the role of PT Bumi Suksesindo. Through the Community Empowerment and Development (PPM) program, PT BSI provides training and assistance to Center-Q UKM members, most of whom are housewives around the mining area. Since its establishment in 2017, Center-Q has grown rapidly, producing various types of processed foods, such as dragon fruit chips, crackers, bagiak, and dry bread.

With intensive assistance, Center-Q SMEs are now able to reach a wider market, even outside the Pesanggaran area. This success is reflected in the collaboration with Kokoon Hotel, which is increasingly introducing their products to the wider community.
