Merdeka Copper Gold honored with Investing on Climate Editors’ Choice Award 2024
PT Merdeka Copper Gold Tbk won the Best Literacy for Climate Resilience award at the Investing on Climate Editors’ Choice Award 2024. The award recognizes the company’s commitment and strategy in achieving net zero emissions. The event, held by Investing on Climate in collaboration with the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), took place at the IDX Main Hall on December 4, 2024.
In her opening remarks, BEI’s Director of Finance, Human Resources and General Affairs, Risa E. Rustam, said that investing in climate change is highly relevant to the current global challenges. “Investments in tackling climate change also offer strategic opportunities to drive sustainable economic growth.” said BEI Director of Finance, Human Resources and General Affairs Risa E. Rustam in her opening speech.
“This award is a recognition of Merdeka’s commitment to contributing to climate change solutions, as stated in the Merdeka Climate Change Policy,” said Bahtiar Manurung, ESG & Climate Change Manager of PT Merdeka Copper Gold Tbk after receiving the award.
Managing Director of Investing on Climate, Ardian Taufik Gesuri, explained that the awardees were selected based on strict criteria, including budget allocation for emission reduction technologies, implementation of net zero emissions, sustainability reporting according to GRI Standards and compliance with Financial Services Authority regulations. In addition, the assessment also covers employee participation, strategic initiatives for emissions reduction, and community and stakeholder engagement.
