PT Bumi Suksesindo (BSI) employees celebrated International Labor Day or May Day on May 1, 2025. Carrying the theme “Knitting Togetherness to Improve National Welfare and Productivity”, with the tagline “May Day is Collaboration Day”, this activity took place at PT BSI’s Seven Hills Auditorium.
The event was attended by various stakeholders, from the Department of Manpower, Transmigration and Industry (Disnakertransperin) Banyuwangi, BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, Forkopimka Pesanggaran, PT BSI Workers Union, to community leaders.
General Manager of Operations (GMO) and Head of Mine Engineering (KTT) of PT BSI, Roelly Fransza, through Occupational Health and Safety Manager (OHS Manager), Dafid Fery Eriyanto emphasized the importance of May Day commemoration and the spirit of collaboration in building healthy industrial relations.
“The theme we carry is not just a sweet slogan. It is a call that welfare and productivity are not two polar opposites, but two best friends who must join hands. The two best friends can be realized if there is togetherness. Yes, there must be collaboration from various parties and stakeholders,” he said, Friday (2/5/2025).
According to Dafid, the world of work today is no longer about power. But it is more about who is the most collaborative in building a shared future.
“Therefore, the tagline ”May Day is Kolaborasi Day“ is an affirmation that we are stronger when we listen to each other, support each other and trust each other,” he explained.
Dafid said that management and employees are not two sides of a coin that contradict each other. Rather, they are one team that collaborates for the sake of an advanced, prosperous and competitive Indonesian company and nation.
Synergy with the government is also important, as a balance keeper, dialog facilitator and enforcer of justice in industrial relations.
Dafid also invited all parties to implement Occupational Safety and Health (OHS) procedures, a basic right of every worker as well as a long-term investment for business sustainability.
“A safe working environment is the foundation of productivity. Healthy workers, both physically and mentally, are our most valuable asset. Therefore, our commitment to the implementation of OHS standards is not only a moral obligation, but also a smart strategy towards strong national competitiveness,” he said.
On May Day 2025, the management of PT BSI appreciated the active role of the Labor Union in maintaining harmonious industrial relations.
“Continue to bridge the voice of employees with wisdom and integrity. To Management, continue to be a true partner in realizing a fair and dignified work environment,” he said.
He hopes that the government and all stakeholders will always be present to strengthen a harmonious, safe, and prosperous work ecosystem. “Let’s strengthen collaboration, unite our vision and step out with confidence for a better, prosperous and productive future,” he added.
Chairman of the PT BSI Labor Union, Lukman Kadafi emphasized that the spirit of collaboration must be upheld by workers, who must have the same vision as the company.
“The key word is collaboration. In collaboration, Equality is very important. There must be balance and equilibrium there,” he said.
He also encourages all employees to continue to hone their skills and knowledge. “What is the goal? So that the collaboration and cooperation we do can run in harmony,” he explained.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Banyuwangi Manpower and Industry Office, Abdul Latif, is committed to ensuring the welfare of workers. As well as providing assistance to companies and workers in every labor problem.
“Education about workers’ rights, including social welfare and labor protection, in order to create a fairer and more conducive work environment. We are also aggressively holding various skills training programs for workers to increase their competitiveness in the
world of work,” he said.
